About CKAP

The Canadian Kilometer Achiever Program (CKAP) is a fitness incentive awards program for cyclists to improve their health and lifestyle.

CKAP, established in 1976 as the Canadian Mileage Achiever Program (CMAP), became CKAP when the metric system came into everyday use.

In the run-up to the 1976 Montreal Olympics, groups of cyclists from across Canada were cycling to Montreal. Building on the excitement around the Olympics, Tom Parry, a Director at the Ontario Cycling Association, founded CKAP to encourage cyclists to log their cycling distances and metaphorically participate in the Olympic Goal.

In 2001, a Handcycling Program was introduced, followed by a Special Needs Program in 2004, ensuring all cyclists could participate in the CKAP Program.

Over 1,479 cyclists log their daily kilometers and receive awards based on the distances logged. Eighty-eight members belong to the 100,000 KM Club.
